Carson's 7th Birthday!

On December 29th, 2010 Carson turned 7 years old. He is such a funny and smart little man. We are so happy to have him as a part of our family! What a character!!!

Here he is opening his favorite present in the world...clothes...NOT!!!

Then he got some Legos, which he could spend hours making his own creations from his head along with what they are supposed to be.

This was Curt's idea...a slot car race track. I really had no idea what this was but we all had a chance to play with it and it's really kind of fun if you can get the timing right so that the car doesn't fly off the track going around the turns which mine always did.


This is from Grandma Moon. She got him a Lego Atlantis vehicle. He loves it because it shoots arrows and he flies it around the room.

This is from Grandma and Grandpa Nye and Katie and Brad. He had mentioned before that he wanted a Paper Jams guitar so that was from the grandparents and the Katie and Brad got his the amplifier and guitar strap but earlier in the day he had gotten a toy with a gift card that he had called a Beyblade and decided that he wanted more of those. So he and dad took these back and got some more of those. He has a great time with those and he and Curt and Kaylee would have battles to see who's blade (kind of like a spinning top) would beat the others and win.

Here's his cake that he chose by himself. We all wanted him to get the cool Tron cake but he got the cool truck cake instead.

Christmas Morning 2010!

So on Christmas morning the kids came in at 7:00 a.m. We played for a bit trying to get Curt out of bed and then we all came out to see what Santa brought and open presents. But first before we do that we have a tradition where we kneel down and say prayers and give thanks for the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ and for all that he did and does for us.

This is what Curt got from Santa...new shoes!

Austin got a Thomas the Train track set that, unfortunately for Daddy 15 minutes after he had set it up Austin had completely torn it apart. So now it's been put away until he is old enough to know how to play with it and not tear it apart just for fun!


I got a George Foreman Indoor Grill that you can take the grill plates off and wash them...just what I wanted! I loved it!


Shelby got new boots. It's kind of sad for the parents when your kids grow up to the point that they want clothes from Santa instead of toys. That's where we're at now. She's getting too grown up too quickly!

Carson got exactly what he was asking for, the Hot Wheels Criss-Cross Crash track set where you can take four cars that drive four different loops and eventually they crash into each other. Curt and Carson would see who would have the winning car at the end of the crashes. I love to see him play with the kids. He's such a great daddy!

Kaylee got what she wanted, too. It's the Princess Castle for those Zhu-zhu pets. I just don't get those things but she likes them so that's what Santa brought for her.

Here is the present that Curt had a great time finding for Austin. Austin went from loving Thomas the Train (which he still likes) to LOVING Buzz Lightyear and Woody and Jessie from Toy Story. So Curt wanted to find him the perfect Buzz that didn't cost too much but still made "the right" sounds. I joked with him when he brought it home that it was probably more for him than it was for Austin and that the first time Austin threw it down the stairs he would freak out and give him back the stuffed Buzz Lightyear that we had when Shelby was his age (because she loved Toy Story II) and keep this Buzz for himself. But so far Austin has been good with this Buzz and hasn't destroyed him YET.

This is Carson's haul from all of Christmas morning. Of course he got more from Grandmas and Grandpa but this is from us and Santa!

Here is Kaylee's loot! By the way, she loves the boots and even wears them in the house and hates it when I tell her, "Take your boots off when you're in the house!"

Here is Shelby's pile. She was excited about all the clothes, most of which she had picked out herself since she's to that point that I am not going to pick out something for her and have it sit in her closet until it gets passed to her sister.

Merry Christmas!!!

Pictures with Santa!

So on December 11th, 2010 we had the annual Moss Family Christmas Party. Every year Santa makes a grand entrance and all of the kids get a chance to sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas and have their pictures taken. I thought the pictures turned out really well. Surprisingly, Austin I think got the whole idea of Santa, that he would bring him a present on Christmas. Whenever he would see Santa or a picture or movie with Santa in it he would say, "Sanna, ho-ho-ho!" He never did cry or get scared of him. What a cute boy!

Putting up the Tree!

So this year was, I think, the first year that we didn't get our tree put up in the last part of November. We were so busy that it got pushed back until the 4th of December. If any of you remember last year Austin was 1 and was NOT allowed to be in where our tree was. So Curt being the brilliant man that he is put our 8 foot table up sideways to block the entrance to our front room to keep him out. It was really funny to see everybody have to climb over the table but it kept the little man out. So this year we thought we would try to see if he could handle that much temptation. We also let him help put the tree up (since it's an artificial tree). He had a great time being our "helper" as he always does...even though sometimes he's not that much help.

Temple Square

On Wednesday, December 15th, 2010 we bundled up in our never-been-worn thermal underwear, heavy coats (except for Shelby who had left hers at the Church the week before) and drove down to Temple Square to see the lights since we hadn't made it down there the last two years. We love going down there. It's such a beautiful atmosphere filled with the Christmas Story and music and thousands and thousands of twinkling lights mixed in with the ever-present, "How much longer," "I'm cold," and, "Can we go yet?" It's something I look forward to every year. I really do! This was Austin's first year and he did really well thanks to the stroller! :)

This was inside the Assembly Hall. They had a bunch of high school choirs doing concerts. So we came inside for a few minutes and listened to a few songs. I would have loved to have stayed longer because they were REALLY good but Austin had had enough and started crawling underneath the benches and if you've ever been inside the Assembly Hall you know there's not a lot of room to maneuver. So instead of either one of getting stuck trying to get him to stay on our bench we decided to let everybody else enjoy themselves and we left.

This was outside in the Plaza. We walked around where they have those old fountains that go from the Beehive House down to the Plaza and Austin, for some reason that we didn't quite get, loved being able to see the water and cried, "Water," every time we went away from the water. So we had make an attempt to keep him by the water as we were walking. What a weird kid! He made us laugh though!

After we were done and almost everyone was frozen we made the trek back to the car where we had brought our own hot chocolate. It was still hot from being in the thermos the whole time. I think this was their favorite part of the whole night! It was good hot chocolate if I do say so myself...mmm, mmm, mmm.

Shelby's Christmas Choir Concert

This semester in school Shelby is in the 7th grade choir. On December 14th, 2010 they had their Christmas Choir Concert. We didn't get a lot of great pictures because we were literally in the very back of the auditorium. So this is the best we got, but we did get some great videos of her singing. She did a great job and even had a little solo part in the song, "The 12 days after Christmas," which she was so excited about because she loved that song and said it was so fun to sing.

Curt's 36th Birthday!!!

So December 11th is Curt's birthday. It was a Saturday and we had the Moss Family party that day as well. So that night we celebrated with the kids and then Curt and I went out to celebrate both of our birthdays. Now there is a story to his cake. First off, his favorite "cake" is cheesecake so we usually get him a cheesecake for his birthday. Second, when I bought the cake I could have sworn that I had a "6" candle but when I got home needless to say there was no "6" in the cupboard. So no, he is not 351 years old, but he is 35+1=36, hahahaha. The kids thought that was pretty funny! For his birthday he got a new pillow (which he's needed for a long time) and some ammunition. Yea, Curt!!!

Happy 35th Birthday to me!!!

Well as most of you know December is the month of chaos for us starting with my birthday. My birthday is on the 9th of December and this year I turned the big 3-5. Yes, I know, I'm old but I still have a lot of life left in me....most days anyway! This year Curt and I really struggled with what telling each other what we wanted for our birthdays and for Christmas so we decided to go really light. I got a hairdryer (which I was in great need of) and a gift card to Robert's Crafts since that's my new favorite place. Then I also got a Cricut machine for both my birthday and Christmas. Yea me!!! I love that thing. It's fun to play with! Then he got me this pretty cake which is an ice cream cake...YUM!!!
