Carson's Zoo Field Trip

So Monday, May 17th was Carson's big field trip to the zoo. Since I went with Shelby and Kaylee when they had theirs I felt that I needed to go with Carson. I think he could have cared less whether I went or not but it was more me that needed to go or the guilt would have gotten to me. Anyway, since there were so many volunteers to chaperone I only had one other boy with us. It was Carson's friend in his class.
When we started out Carson immediately wanted to go buy something from the souvenir shop. He didn't understand that this was for school so we weren't supposed to buy anything since the other kids would want something too. he eventually got it or maybe he just forgot about it as we went and saw all the different animals and fun things to see.
We started out seeing the giraffes and the Asian Highlands. The big cats and the monkey are my favorites so I was happy to start there.
This is their hands compared to the big paw of a tiger.

Carson thought it was funny that he was the same size as an adult female gorilla. He's a goofy kid!

He also loved this part, getting to climb up on the elephant exhibit to have his picture taken. He wanted to find out why it was making the elephant noises and how it worked. He's a little engineer at heart I think...just like his daddy!

This is the new baby elephant, Zuri. Isn't she so cute. At first we didn't see her so I was a little disappointed but then towards the end there she was. I think I was more excited than the boys. Awwww.

Of course you always have to take a picture on the gorilla statue. It's tradition! He had a hard time climbing up there and thought he was going to fall but eventually we got the pic. He was happy to get down!

On our way back to the bus we went by the peacocks. We had seen them earlier and they had their tails down but on our way out this one had his tail up. I had to take a picture because I love it when they have their big pretty tails up for everyone to see. Wow!

This is another traditional picture moment, standing by the big lion water fountain. The boys have their eyes closed because they were looking into the sun and right as I was going to take the first picture another little boy came to get a drink. So we hurried and got this so he could get a drink.

Last but not least since this was Carson's first trip on a bus I had to get his picture on the bus. He was so excited about this part of the trip and asked if we had to go to a bus station to get on the bus. I had to explain that the bus would pick him up at the school and then drive to the zoo from there and then drive back to the school where I would pick him up. He loved it...although it took a long time.

Fun! We just went today with Caitlyn. That baby elephant was so cute and you gotta have a picture on the gorilla. :)
