During this year Kaylee's class made their own hot air balloons for science. They worked really hard on them for weeks. Then March 20th was launch day. They had a bunch of popcorn poppers that filled them with the hot air they needed to rise. It was fun to watch them fly. Some did not fly on their first attempt but it was fun to watch the kids try to fix the problems and then see them take flight.
Kaylee and her partner's first attempt. It didn't go very far but it did fly a little.
Then they tried again. Mrs. Hill helped them get the air in the right way so it wasn't lopsided.
Then it took off and flew...
And flew...
And flew right over the fence of the school yard and over the fence of a house crash landing in their backyard. Unfortunately we couldn't get it back because their gates were locked and the people who lived there were down in St. George. So they had to say goodbye to their hot air balloon. We laughed when we talked about what the people would think when they came home and found some tissue paper thing in their backyard! At least we got pictures!!!
