Shelby's birthday is on June 4th and this year it just so happens that she had her birthday while we were at Girls Camp. She always dreaded that that would happen but to have it be on her 16th birthday...let's just say she wasn't thrilled. Thanks goodness I got to be up there with her since I'm the Camp Director for our ward. So I tried to make it special for her. The YW presidency got her the sash and birthday hat. She's a good sport!
While they were hiking I stayed back to decorate her bunk and get her present ready. Also I had all our family members that wanted to write her cards or letters that she could open. That really made her day to know that everybody was thinking of her while she was away!
This was her present for up at camp. It was a candy bouquet! It turned out really great and she loved it.
We celebrated with family on Friday (when we got home from camp) and Saturday. She got her license and her present was stuff to "outfit" her new car (new to her). Then we had cake and ice cream.
Of course now that she's 16 she gets to date. This was her first date. It was with "Nate" who we love and adore. He's in our stake and all the girls are crazy for him. She and Nate are good friends so we couldn't have picked a better first date for her. Love you sweet girl!
