Shelby's 14!

Can you believe it?  Our baby's 14 and going into 9th grade!!!  Since she's getting older that means that she's harder to buy presents for.

She of course had to have a giant Hershey bar since those are her favorites

Then she got a book to a series that she has been reading (but come to find out it was the wrong one...I missed the second book and got her the third...oops!)

Then my favorite picture!

She has been asking for a cell phone for YEARS but this year with her being an officer at school we decided that it was time.  I think this TOTALLY made her birthday!

Something else she has been asking for is a Facebook account.  We have been leery about this because so much can happen but we decided as long as I was friends with her and could see what was going on that it would all right.  She was excited about this one as well.

Instead of a birthday cake she wanted open-faced cream puff for dessert.  Our whole family was happy about that one!

Make a wish!

A couple of weeks later was her birthday party.  She wanted to have a murder mystery party.  It turned out great but was A LOT of work.

This is a picture of Hannah (Shelby's best friend) jumping up and down because she was so excited for Shelby to open her present!

This is what it was; Tinkerbell dolls because they like to play Pixie Hollow on the computer with each other...go figure!

She also got some jewelry

Some money

Some candy and a gift card

Her name in wood blocks

and a scarf with some more jewelry

Happy birthday Shelby!
We love you!!!

Knoll's 6-8-12 (Knolls)

On June 8th we went four-wheeling with some friends of Curt's from work.  We camped out over night and had a great time riding the next day.  As in other rides that we've taken out to the Knolls we rode out to the old jet fuel tank but came to find that someone had tipped it over.  We were very disappointed that someone would do that and ruin everybody's fun but we still had a good time and even wrote our names on the tank.  Austin even rode a bigger four-wheeler and, just like his dad, couldn't get enough of it!  We had a great time!

Kaylee's Field Trip

Before school ended this year Kaylee had her field trip to This is the Place Park.  They talked to a mountain man, learned how to dance like pioneers and pulled handcarts.  I liked the handcarts especially since last year Curt and I went on Trek.  She had a great time but it was very hot!!!

Shelby's SBO

So Shelby made SBO Historian for her 9th grade year.  This is her in her student government sweater.  It's going to be a busy year but a fun one for her!!

Congrats Shelby!!!

Memorial Day 2012

May 28th was Memorial Day this year.  As is tradition we went and put pinwheels on the grandparents' graves.

This is "Grandpa Nye"
(great-grandfather)

This is "Grandma Great"
(Great-Grandma Dorothy Moss)

This is my dad, Douglas Marshall Moon
(grandpa)

This is the back of my dad's tombstone.  Under the basketball it says "Coach" because he loved to coach basketball and did so many years of his life.

This is "Grandma Blobly"
(Great-grandma Bodily; my grandma)
That is what Shelby called her when she was very little and it has stuck!

Days like this make me thankful for those who came before us and help make us who we are and who we can become!

Curt's My New Superman!

The reason I titled this post that way is because yesterday, May 19th, 2012 Curt ran the Ogden half marathon which is a 13.1 mile run starting from Eden and down Ogden Canyon.  I was completely amazed!!!  He is just like Superman to me.  His finish time was 2:05:36 with a pace time of 9:35 per mile.  He finished 1,424 out of 3,180 runners.  There were a TON of people there when we came to see him finish.  Unfortunately we missed him crossing the finish line and found him just after he had finished.  But we are still VERY PROUD of him.  What an accomplishment sweetie!  We love you!!!

A man determined!

These are some of the people that he knows from work.

Here is his finish time on the record sheets.  I don't know if you can see it or not but it's there!

Like I said...TONS of people!

The finish line is in the background...FAR in the background!

Way to go Dad!!!

Eclipse 2012

On May 20th, we had an eclipse of the sun.  It wasn't a full eclipse but it was more than half.  They said the best way to view it would be with a welder's hood but since we didn't have one we had to improvise.  So Curt stumbled on this method.  It's four pairs of sunglasses, one of them being polarized.  It worked great!!!  It was awesome to see something so spectacular!
